Several schools, both online and not, have begun adding medical administrative assistant training programs to their curriculum. In the past, nurses would take care of the front office duties, but due to the increase in demand for nurses, many health care facilities have begun hiring medical office assistants. To be qualified and certified, you must take and pass the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam. Online training courses are relatively short, usually taking three months or less to complete, and will prepare you for the exam.
These medical office assistant training programs cost on average $1,500 and that doesn’t include the cost of books and other materials. For some, paying for this training may not be a possibility. But, with the increase in available jobs and people’s interest in becoming certified, there are several scholarships or and payment programs to help with this expense.
Scholarships
There is a lot of money out there in the form of scholarships to help you pay for your training. Contact your school to see if they offer any or to be pointed in the right direction.
Payment Plans
Check with your school to see if they have any type of payment plan available so you don’t have to pay the entire amount up front and have more manageable payments over time. This option usually incurs some type of interest, but it may be a good alternative to a loan.
Loans
A student loan usually offers students a lower interest rate in order to help them meet their educational goals.
State Assistance
Check with your local Workforce Service or Vocational Rehabilitation office to see if you qualify for one of their programs.
There is no need to put off your education due to financial restrictions. There are several options out there to help you get the training you need without being a burden after graduation.
