Successful TMJ Exercise

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

It is a common mindset among most Americans that when something goes wrong, there is nothing to be done about it. This is simply not true. When you’re living with the constant pain of TMJ and are sick of the constant let-downs when it comes to a quick fix, then get proactive, do something about it. There is such thing as a pain free future. It will definitely take hard work, but it’s better than sitting around letting things progressively get worse. There are a few steps that will help you determine what needs to be done.

  1. Create a Goal – When you are working, you generally are always working towards something. What is it you desire to have? What dreams would you like to fulfill? Allow this goal to drive you when you feel like giving up.
  2. What is needed to accomplish this goal? – If your goal is going to college and graduating, then applying to college is your first step. If your goal is to find TMJ dentists in California that can help you live a pain-free life, then contacting a TMJ dentist would be the right move. Start at the beginning and start small if you have to.
  3. Visualize the end result – There is no greater motivator than a successful end result. Allow yourself to daydream of what you desire most, as this dream will often times be the sole driving factor helping you accomplish your goals.
  4. Work hard – There are many places where TMJ exercises can be found. These will help you ease the constant pressure that is built up in your jaw. Without that pressure the pain subsides. Constant diligence and an attitude of no failure is required.

Dentists offering TMJ solutions will just give you a mouth guard or splint to stop your teeth from grinding. This will definitely help your teeth as the constant wear and tear will lessen, but it will not stop the pain. Relaxing and strengthening your jaw muscles is the most proactive approach you can take when it comes to your TMJ pain. Why wait?

Utilize Google Hotpot in your Local Marketing

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Word of mouth is known for being the most trused and influential form of marketing. People like to share postive experiences and the people they tell feel like they’ve got an in and like to try it out themselves. When thinking about online dental marketing, word of mouth is probably not one of the first things that come to mind. However, don’t forget that the internet is a form of communication too! Just because it is written and read doesn’t mean word of mouth doesn’t exist online. Think about it. When you go to buy something online, how often do you check out the reviews before proceeding to the checkout? Reviews are king when it comes to marketing online.

Last Novemeber Google introduced Hotpot where Google users can set up an account, write reviews of places they’ve been, and share their reviews with their friends. Everytime you write a review, Google gets a better idea of your likes and dislikes to be able to make suggestions of new places it thinks you may like. In addition, you can view a feed of your friends ratings as well. Essentially recommendations are powered by your reviews and recomendation so they are personalized and localized.

So you may be thinking, how does this apply to your online dental marketing efforts? By encouraging your visitors to go online and write a review, you are getting your name out there, creating online word of mouth buzz about your dental office, and best of all it’s at no cost to you. When it comes to dental marketing, you want to make sure that you are focused on localization. There is no sense marketing to people who are too far away to come to your office. Google Hotpot targets the people you want.

This all sounds great, but how do you incorporate Google Hotpot into you online dental marketin efforts? It’s simple since it is connected to Google Places. Optimize your Google Places account by making sure your information is correct and just encourage your clients and visitors to go online and write a review in Hotpot.

A History of Roofing

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

While this is not something you will learn about in a typical high-school history class, the history of roofing is diverse and full of surprises. Most notably in the last two decades, roofing has had a dramatic transformation that affects the way we live our lives on a daily basis. If you look back at what roofing used to be, a sense of gratitude is felt for those who have helped it become what it is today. For more information on roofing, I’d suggest getting in contact with roofing contractors in Salt Lake City.

The History of Roofing:

Throughout time man has utilized natural resources and come up with innovative ways to protect themselves from nature. Some important materials were wood, mud and straw. Can you imagine what it would have felt like to go from being drenched on rainy nights, to staying dry and warm inside? Often times we take for granted the things we expect to be there, and roofs are one of them. This out of sight and out of mind attitude tends to make us shirk certain responsibilities and let things go into disrepair.

The roofing of a specific civilization can tell us a lot about the lifestyles that its citizens led. For instance, the teepee depicts the nomadic lifestyle of many Native American tribes. The material being buffalo skin also depicts how much they relied on this massive beast for everyday supplies. The roof also tells us how technologically advanced a civilization might have been. Slating and tiling were first introduced to Great Britain as early as 100 BC by the Romans who occupied the territory.

In the 12th century under the reign of King John, a law was issued in London stating that citizens had to replace their thatch and reed roof-coverings and replace them with clay tiles. This law was provided as a measure against the spread of fires from house to house changed the history of roofing forever.

Nowadays roofing is still heavily dependent on the materials you have readily available, but with advancements in quick supply over vast distances, your Salt Lake City roofers can make your roof what you’ve always dreamed of.

Utah Criminal Defense Law Regarding Insanity

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

30 years ago today, an assasination attempt was made on President Ronald Reagan’s life. John W. Hinckley Jr. fired six shots within 15-20 feet of the president. The president was shot in the chest, and wounded three others. Hinckley was found not guilty in June 1982 by reason of insanity and was admitted to a mental institution. This trial prompted changes in laws on insanity as a criminal defense and sparked the national debate over gun control.

Within three years of Hinckley’s admittance to the mental institution, Congress and several states enacted changes in regards to using insanity as defense in a criminal trial.

The insanity defense is pretty self explanatory. A defendent using this strategy claims that they are not guilty on the grounds of insanity. The reasoning behind this defense it that they cannot have the intent to commit a criminal act because either they do not know it is wrong or cannot control their actions. Although this defense is not often used, it is still a very controversial subject. Some feel that it is hard to determine what exactly defines insanity and whether they can really know the difference between right and wrong.

After the Hinkley case, Utah and three other states including Kansas, Montana, and Idaho completely dropped the insanity defense. A Utah defense attorney can still argue for a “Guilty but Mentally Ill” verdict. In these cases those found criminally liable are required to receive psychiatric treatment while incarcerated or to be placed in a mental hospital to serve their sentence.

If you have questions regarding Utah’s criminal defense laws regarding insanity contact a Salt Lake City law firm for further information.

Pharmacies Going Online: A Push for E Prescribing

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Over the years, your visit to the doctors office has become increasingly more electronic. When it comes to your medical records there are many advantages to this. Electronic records are much easier to access and store, they’re efficient, and much more legible than your doctor’s old chicken scratch. Pharmacies are jumping on the electronic bandwagon as we have seen a recent push for e-prescribing. E-prescriptions are computer generated prescritions created by a doctor and are sent directly to your pharmacy. The reasoning behind electronic perscriptions is very much the same for electronic health records. But why the delay at the pharmacy when the majority of doctors offices have already made the switch with records? Only a fraction of doctors are set up with the capability to write and send electronic prescriptions. In addition, some state laws require restricted drugs to be written by hand.

Things will quickly be changing in the industry as Medicare has mandated that all computer generated prescriptions be transmitted electronically by January 1st instead of by fax as they often are now.

Ten major pharmacy chains have launched national marketing campaigns to help raise interest and awareness for e-prescribing. Not only does the campaign direct patients to a website for more information about what e-precriptions are and what benefits they offer, but also helps people search for doctors who e-prescribe and pharmacies that accept prescriptions in electronic form. This way they can take advantatge of the benefits of e-prescribing.

Those currently working towards receiving their pharmacy technician certification should stay informed about this effort for e-prescriptions. The industry is becoming increasingly more electronic as we can see from increase in online pharmacy technician schools. Many people have begun opting for pharmacy tech online courses because they are a more flexible and convenient way to get trained. The industry is constantly changing and e-prescriptions are just one step in providing better, more efficient health care.

What To Expect As A Pharmacy Tech

Monday, March 21st, 2011

The responsibilities a pharmacy technician or aide has can vary depending on the pharmacist you are working under. Here are some responsibilities you may come to face to face with:

  • Long Hours- You are responsible for the times that the pharmacist is not available. This will mean the need to cover weekends, evenings, and holidays. The pace of work will be slower, but the pharmacist has the ultimate say when it comes to time off.
  • Prescription Mix & Match- Technicians will oftentimes handle the prescription requests from patients. They can be written, electronically-sent, or depending on state, requested by phone. Verification that the prescription is complete and accurate is one of the most important duties a tech has. They will also pour, count, measure, weigh and occasionally mix the medication. From start to finish a you’ll have a hand in the prescription process, so learning as much as you can in the pharmacy technician certification course is imperative.
  • Healthcare- There is also a potential to work in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted-living facilities. You’ll have the same basic responsibilities, but you also may have to prepare sterile solutions and deliver the medications by hand to the nurses or physicians.
  • Bright Future- The outlook for job opportunities for pharmacy techs or aides is very bright. The need for this position has grown at a steadily high rate annually. This is rare for this day and age, as most positions tend to decrease regarding job availability. It is said that about 75% of these jobs are in a retail setting. This is very good as a vast majority of retail stores have pharmacies in-house.

As always, the best place to learn the most efficient way to handle your responsibilities as a pharmacy tech is to be willing to learn in the field. A pharmacy tech online course can set you up with the correct knowledge, but it is solely up to you to become the best pharmacy tech you can be.

Education is the Best Prevention

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

When most people hear the word disease, they think of a type of life threatening illness that they would prefer to avoid. Maybe it is because of fear, or the idea that “that’ll never happen to me” but many are not educated on different types of disease, how they are spread, and how to protect against them.

Infectious diseases include those that result from a virus, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, or parasite. In many cases, symptoms do not show or show a while after the infection so carriers are unaware that they even have the disease. For example, depending on the type of hepatitis, the virus could be in the body for two to six weeks or an entire lifetime without showing symptoms. If you come into contact with blood or other bodily fluids on a regular basis there is hepatitis testing available to make sure you do not contract and spread the disease.

Autoimmune diseases are when your body actually attacks its own cells. This type of disease is often chronic, debilitating, and life-threatening. Autoimmune diseases are not passed from one person to another. They usually are inherited but things in the environment such as sunlight, solvents, and viral and bacterial infections can trigger the disease. Depending on the autoimmune disease, one would experience different symptoms. Most autoimmune diseases don’t go away but there are treatments that can help you manage it and alleviate the symptoms. It is a good idea to know your family’s health history to know what you may be at risk for.

When it comes to protecting yourself and preventing disease, information and knowledge is key. If you think you are at risk for any disease, be sure to go talk to your doctor and get tested.

Not eligible to donate blood? You can still help!

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

There are many people who unfortunately are turned away at blood drives because they are not eligible to donate. This could be due to low iron counts, cold symptoms, or other medical problems. If turned away, don’t give up! For the majority of deferrals, it is only temporary. For those of you who are permanently ineligible due to an infectious disease such as hepatitis, there are still ways that you can help.

  • Try again. There are several things you can do to prepare your body to donate blood. Before your next donation, eat iron rich foods, get a good night’s sleep, drink extra fluids, and eat a healthy meal before hand.
  • Spread the word. Get out in your community and let people know that the need for blood is constant. Invite your friends and family members to donate or joining the American Red Cross Facebook group.
  • Volunteer. You can help by volunteering your time or by helping to host a blood drive. Doing so helps to support your community, get others excited about donating, and it just feels good to help others.
  • Donate in other ways. You can give a monetary donation or check out an infectious disease plasma donation program. These programs look for donators who have diseases such as Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, HIV, etc in order to supply test kits. In addition to helping others and preventing the spread of the disease, you’ll get some cash in your pocket.

Don’t give up if you are turned away from donating blood. Use the items listed here as a starting point and look for other opportunities to help the cause.

Intellectual Protection

Friday, March 11th, 2011

New ideas spring forth daily and the need for protecting them is on a steady rise. Intellectual property protection is the defense of any creative or innovative idea, but there is no physical product representative of the idea. Think of it as protection before the official ownership of the product has been determined or claimed. Hiring security guards for when the building is being built and not just when it opens its doors.

Oftentimes you cannot protect an idea that is not refined or has more elaboration than the initial thought. There are four main types of intellectual property:

  • Trademarks- This is in place for brand protection so definite differences can be made between separate traders.
  • Patents- In place for inventions that are either improved upon products or new processes that can be used in an industrial capacity.
  • Copyright- All things artistic, whether it be literary, music, sound recordings, films or software a copyright will keep you covered.
  • Aesthetic Design- This is for the appearance of a specific product, protecting from similarities between product design and appearance.

There are many steps between innovation and actual tangible product development. Protect these steps the best you can with intellectual property protection.
