Pharmacy Technicican Certification Exam Study Tips

Friday, April 15th, 2011

At the end of your pharmacy technician training, you will be required to take an exam to get your certification. Exams generally make the average student anxious or stressed out, especially when your career depends on your performance. There are a few things you can do however to better prepare yourself and help you ace that test.

  • No One Right Way

As each person learns and recalls information differently, keep in mind that there is no one right way to study for your exam. Do what works best for you.

  • Prepare your environment

When you sit down to study for your pharmacy technician certification exam, prepare your study environment. If you study best in silence, find a secluded place where there won’t be any interuptions or distractions. If you study best with music, put together a study playlist. when you sit down to study, put all of your lecture notes, previous assignments, study guide, books, and any other materials you may need in front of you. This way you won’t waste you valuable studying time looking for your study materials.

  • Start with the Most Important Information

You will quickly become frustrated if you try to understand every little detail from the start. Begin with the most important information and learn the basic concepts. Knowledge is something you build upon so once you have the basics down move on down to the specifics. Make sure that you understand the material and that you are not just memorizing things.

  • Retain the Information

Studies have shown there are a few things that you can do to better retain the information you learn during your study session. First, take short breaks frequently. You best remember the first things you learn and the last things rather than the information in the middle. Take notes and summarize what you just learned. Writing down information can really help you internalize and remember it. Finally, quiz yourself. Make flash cards or have a friend quiz you on the material to help you recall the information.

  • Use Your Resources

Your online pharmacy technician schools are a great resource to help answer questions. Ask them questions and to be pointed in the right direction.

Don’t let test anxiety or a lack of prepardness get the best of you! Have confidence in yourself!

DUI Convictions and Your Auto Insurance

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

Forty nine out of the fifty states require you to have auto insurance to legally drive. Many people think this is unjust, but it’s important to remember that driving is a privilege and not a right. If a state requires you to have insurance, they also allow you to post a cash bond showing financial responsibility. A cash bond to the DMV equal to your required liability insurance amount is often times enough to show this responsibility. If you are in an accident, the cash it taken out of the bond and required to be replenished. In the event of needing a Utah DUI Attorney, you’ll want to be aware of the fact that your insurance company may raise your premium.

When you initially attempt to retrieve your license after it has been taken away due to a DUI, there could be a small fee associated with immediate reinstatement. The premium that you and your insurance company had agreed upon before should stay in effect until the end of the policy. Once this period has ended, any discount that you previously held will be gone and could take several years of no violations to get a discount back. Typically the increase on your insurance premium will be around 40%. Your insurance company may also elect to non-renew the current policy you hold, as there is a chance you will not qualify for the previous policy due to a driving infraction.

After you’ve gone through the arduous process a DUI causes, with the help of a Utah DUI lawyer of course, whichever insurance company you decide to try and obtain a policy with will NEED to know that you’ve had a DUI. This means a special insurance policy is required stating their foreknowledge. A special form called an SR-22, which is a particular form that insurance companies offer filings for in the event of your license having been suspended or revoked, is required before your insurance is reinstated.

If you have been classified as a “high-risk driver” then shopping around for different insurance companies around the time you’ll need a renewal on your policy is highly favored. This is mostly because rates will have such a great variety among auto insurers. If your auto insurer misses the DUI conviction as it happens, they will find out about it later. As the old saying goes, why put off what you can do today for tomorrow?

Common DUI Myths pt. 1

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

Everyone has heard them, the myths that arise from those who passed a DUI test or gotten away on pure luck. These supposed myths have actually ended in the result of someone getting arrested because they thought they could get away scotch-free. Here are some common myths your Utah DUI attorney will want you to know:

  • Smelly Breath – A police officer saying they detect alcohol on your breath is a false statement. In fact, alcohol is odorless and the breath of someone who drinks a non-alcoholic beer will smell the exact same as someone who has consumed a beer with alcohol in it.

  • Sucking Pennies – People say that sucking on pennies lowers a person’s blood alcohol content reading, but this is completely false. Don’t be caught looking stupid and avoid any loose change.

  • Alcohol Free – Some people think that since they abstain from alcohol that they won’t ever be arrested for a DUI. Unfortunately this is false, and since Sobriety Tests in the field are so unpredictable they don’t account for the natural alcohol that is produced by the body. In some cases people produce enough alcohol to become legally intoxicated and arrested for DUI. If this is the case, then contact your local Utah DUI lawyer and they will definitely get your back.

There are so many myths associated with DWI and DUI that people are risking arrest based on complete fabrications. All of these myths can be corrected with the proper scientific information.

Warm and Cozy Under A Metal Roof

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Living in Utah, we are very suited for the cold winters that we expect and prepare to happen every year. This preparation tends to help us in many different ways. The old story about the ant and the grasshopper is the perfect example on how preparation never hurts. The ant works hard, the grasshopper plays hard, and when winter comes guess who’s not sweating the cold weather? That’s right, the ant. Much like we should prepare ourselves for the winter, we should also prepare our homes, specifically the roofs.

Now you may ask, at what time does the preparation begin? The answer is before the house is even built. When planning for your future roofing in Utah, take a few things into consideration.

  • Climate
  • Budget
  • Aesthetics

This is where the versatility of metal roofing in Utah can come into play. Now I know what you’re thinking, a metal roof? It’s ugly, it’s clunky and just plain doesn’t make sense. First off, metal roofs come in all colors, shapes and sizes now. They also add granules on the metal roofs so they don’t look or sound metal in the least bit.

In regards to the winter season, metal roofing is the king of your roofing choices. When the snow does fall, it will not get stuck or clogged at the corners of your roof. Metal roofs are also virtually indestructible when it comes to your run of the mill forces of nature. I’m not saying it’ll stand up to a hurricane, but a heavy rain is no obstacle for this roof when it comes to protecting your family.

Energy Efficient Roofing

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Every year, it seems there is a new type of roof that you “must” have in order to be protected from all that Mother Nature has to blast us with. It’ll range from virtually leak proof to saving you hundreds of dollars a year by being energy efficient. When you’re thinking of re-roofing your house you’ll want to know all of your options. You’ll want to save money while still guarding yourself against the wear and tear a four season climate provides. Roofing in Salt Lake City has a wide variety of takes, all dependent upon how your roofer decides to do things. These innovative new roofs don’t only seem to cost-cut on energy bills but often times secure and improve structures with their strength.

There is a broad spectrum of materials that one uses to make a roof more energy efficient, here are a few:

  • Metal Roofing – Installing reflective metal roofing in Utahhas been reported to save up to 40 percent in cooling energy costs. Instead of constantly running your air conditioner in a desperate attempt to stay cool, try keeping the cool air locked in the home with new technologically advanced roofs. This lessening of our dependency on energy resources means less air pollution and a good first step towards lessening our footprint on this world. The secret to the success of metal roofing is the variety of finishes applied to the roof.
  • Tiles – The most popular type of tile is clay or concrete. There is an energy efficient coating added to these tiles that allow them to help prevent the escape of the air from the tops of homes.
  • Membrane Roofing – Commonly made from synthetic rubber, membrane roofs are used on mostly flat roofs to control the flow of water on the roof and prevent leaking into the home.

If you want to make certain that a roof is optimized to be energy efficient, check for the Energy Star logo. These roofs meet strict efficiency guidelines while saving energy, time and money.

Personal Injury Compensation is Justice

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

A personal injury lawsuit is not always just about the money. It is about seeking justice for the traumatic injuries inflicted upon innocent people. It is a blessing that their life was not taken, but often times the life that the victims and their families once knew are gone. The precious time we have with our loved ones is so short that being able to spend that time injury free is almost priceless. When a personal injury incident occurs, however, this ability to enjoy life as you once did is severely limited, often times dramatically limited. Here are several ways a personal injury case can affect the way one lives.

  • Emotional – One of the most important factors a Utah personal injury attorney will take into account is the frustrations with the physical limitations inflicted upon you as result of the accident. This frustration can lead to severe depression or anxiety directly related to the incident that occurred.
  • Physical – The physical limitations experienced as a result of the accident alter the way a life is lived. Whether confined to a wheelchair or simply having a limp from the accident, this drastically changes a person’s attitude toward life. There is compensation that is completely necessary for these incidences. If you ask someone who has been in a personal injury case, they would much rather have their mobility back rather than the money.
  • Financially – There will be a loss of income due to missed work as a result of the accident. There may also be medical bills that are coming in. Mix those two and it’s a combination for stressed and strained relationships. Receiving the correct compensation for your personal injury is an extremely important part of the process. Why should you have to pay for someone else inflicting harming upon your health?

A Utah county lawyer with a specialty in personal injury will want the best results for you. Receive the compensation you deserve and avoid most of the complications an injury brings.

Making Lemonade from Lemons

Monday, April 4th, 2011

I had an old family friend who’s motto to live by was “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” As for most people, life isn’t always smooth sailing. It’s what you do with the circumstances you are delt that can make all the difference in your life.

Many only see the negative in being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease or one of the world’s infectious diseases. This is something that can be a struggle in your life or, you can flip it around and make something postive out of it.

There are several companies out there that are willing to pay you good money for donating your plasma if you have some type of disease. Depending on the disease, you could earn $1,ooo or more a week! I bet that’s more than your local plasma center is paying people for donating their disease free plasma.

You may be wondering why anyone would want plasma from someone with an autoimmune disease or infectious disease such as hepatitis, HIV, or Herpes. Well, the fact of the matter is, your plasma can be used in research or in test kits as a standard to compare against. There have been laws created that require hepatitis testing and other types of testing to have a control within there kit. Currently, many people do not know of these types of donation programs and the need for plasma is high.

In addition to making money, your donation can help others. Getting tested and being knowledgeable can be the best prevention in stopping the spread of infectious diseases.

One thing to mention however, eligibility of donations is very time sensitive. For many, you need to have been diagnosed withing the past two to three weeks in order to donate.

Talk to your health care provider to start making something good out of an unfavorable situation.

Autoimmune Diseases and US Health Care

Monday, April 4th, 2011

A hot and controversial topic in the United States is health care. Idea after idea has been presented and debated on how to increase health care coverage for all yet keep costs down and affordable. According to a report released by the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA), autoimmune diseases are a major direct and indirect economic burden to the United States health care system.

It is estimated that 50 million Americans have more than 100 different types of autoimmune diseases. Autoimmune diseases are unlike their infectious disease counterparts such as HBV, HIV, ect., in that they are not contagious but rather developed or inherited. The costs incurred to provide treatment are a heavy burden on both the one with the disease and the health care system. In 2001 it was estimated that $100 billion dollars were incurred due to autoimmune disease diagnosis and treatment.

Autoimmune diseases are the second highest cause of chronic illness and are on the rise. This just further shows how poorly misunderstood this category of disease is. The AARDA report suggests that it is because of this lack of awarness that we see an unequal allocation of research funding, lack of coordinated care and diagnostic tests, and the associated cost of autoimmune diseases has contributed greatly to the rising costs of US healthcare.

The report suggests in order to cut down autoimmune disease related health care costs three things should occur:

  1. Streamline the Diagnosis Process

Treating those with an autoimmune disease is complex because they often offect multiple organs and sytems in the body. Most people have to visit several specialists and symptoms are treated seperately. This is often very time consuming, wasteful, and expensive. By streamlining this process, the overall econimic burden could be lowered. This can be accomplised through better coordinated care

  2. Greater Focus on Research Funding

The statistics on autoimmune diseases are staggering. However, even so very littel have been invested into the research and diagnostic tools when compared to infectious diseases and other health crises such as cancer. Increasing funding for autoimmune diseases will give us a better understanding of how they can be diagnosed and treated effectively and efficently.

  3. Increasing Awareness

Many people know very little about autoimmune diseases and their treatment. When surveyed, only 13% of Americans can even name one of the hundreds of autoimmune diseases. An increase in awareness and diagnosis would benefit not only the patients and their families but could also result in health care cost savings. Asking and keeping record of family health history can be a great aid in diagnosing these types of diseases however very few physicans ask specifically about autoimmune diseases.

As autoimmune diseases continue to be a heath concern, they will continue to incur billions of dollars in healthcare, Medicare, Medicaid, and out of pocket expenses. It is important that we gain a better understanding of these diseases not only for our physical health but also our financial health as a nation.

Name Your Niche

Monday, April 4th, 2011

If you are ever trying to break into the world of being an online business then creating a niche is very important. A niche, properly defined, is a recess in a wall specially suited for a statue. This is essentially the work of arts own personal display, one that will showcase it as something set apart from the rest of the exhibits. This is the word chosen to represent making a name for yourself in a specific market. What defines you as a company will best display what it is you’re trying to accomplish in the business world. This niche will be your own and you’ll want to make sure you have complete control over it. Your online business will be very dear to you and it will be important that there is no imitations. Start out by acquiring all the domain names related to your business. If one is already owned, look into a company that specializes in domain name acquisition. When you establish yourself as a provider of specific goods, you’ll want the business to be driven to a domain under your control and not someone else.

If you’ve already established yourself as a presence on the web, certain security precautions should be your next step. Over 600,000 small businesses are started each year, many of those more than likely trying to break into your market. Having all of your assets and competitive angles covered is essential if you want to keep traffic being driven to your site. There are companies out there that specialize in protection of various aspects of online business. These specializations are:

Using a company with these services is like hiring a platoon of marines as your personal security squad. Protect your work and protect your future.
