Past and present practices of data cabling give insight as to what the future holds. The leaps and bounds that have been made in the world of data-transport are astonishing, with speeds in just 1984 being considered incredibly slow and brought to light the worth of this data communication method. However, it now is in the fingertips of the consumer to select the desired provider of lightning fast download/upload speeds. If this isn’t fully satisfactory, there are tips and tweaks that can be made with the potential result being increased broadband speed.
Here’s how:

There are those who dedicate their time to self-improving all aspects of their daily life. This is the case for structured cabling broadband speed tweaks, as it is both beneficial and wise to take full advantage of every service provided. Now it’s important to note that these changes should only be made after you’re certain your connection is both reliable and consistent. These changes do not in any way make up for a faulty installation, network issue, or physical hardware malfunction that may have occurred to your connection.

TCP/IP Network Protocol

The various parameters involved in the TCP/IP Network protocol settings can be tweaked to increase bandwidth limitations, as a majority of all users have the default TCP/IP settings active by Windows Registry. Using a registry editor tweak the parameters of the following:

Time-To-Live (TTL)

Maximum Segment Size (MSS)

Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU)

TCP receive window size

The TCP/IP settings are located in the router or modem administrative panel as well. Tweaking these can additionally help ease the bandwidth restrictions for your connection.

Browser Settings

Tweaking your browser to suppress the download of large images when browsing on the internet, your network bandwidth can be utilized where it is most needed as opposed to unecessary duties.

In order to fully determine whether or not your speed tweaks have worked, run an Internet speed test after you’ve applied certain settings. This will help you gauge whether or not your efforts have been successful. It may take a while to find the right balance of settings, but once you utilize the full amount of bandwidth available to you, you’ll truly be living the frugal lifestyle.

To do a job right you will often need the best equipment, specially designed for whatever work environment you’re in. Speaking solely of the different industries, whether it be mining, gas and oil, or agriculture, it’s absolutely essential to have the right equipment for storage and means to load and unload into that storage. In every different age there has been advances in machinery that allow those industrial workers to streamline the process and produce goods on a much larger scale at a much faster rate. For example, oil field equipment has gone from hand dug wells to being 115 ft. in depth because of the unique ways developed to utilize ever inch of the oil field. Today we’ll be focusing on the agricultural industry and all of the benefits these advancements have lent to farmers and other industry workers alike.

Innovations

Agricultural – This story begins with corn and cotton, and how the high demand of each lead to incredible inventions.

Life on the Farmstead – Beginning with sowing by hand and cultivating by hoe, the invention of the cotton gin marked the beginning of the agricultural revolution that took place between the 16th and 18th centuries. The cotton gin eliminated the need to separate cotton fibers from cotton seeds, this lead to hundreds of man-hours being saved and the southern states becoming extremely wealthy due to the increased production. Some 20 years later, Jethro Wood patented a revised version of Charles Newbold’s cast-iron plow. This new iron plow with interchangeable parts allowed farmers to adjust their plow to the soil condition they were working with, thus allowing all types of land to be cultivated for agricultural use. After the later patents of the reaper and threshing machine the need for reliable storage for the abundance of goods became a necessity, leading way to the 1842 invention of the grain elevator in upstate New York. With all of these increases in supply it was no longer a question of supporting your local community, but making your product available on a national scale which helped our country grow at a rapid pace. Later on the implementation of conveyor belts such as the enclosed conveyor systems allowed goods to be stored for longer without the usual risk of spoiling due to exposure to the elements.

This brief tribute to those great inventors who helped shape the way goods were manufactured and stored is nowhere near the recognition they deserve, but hopefully some will think of these great individuals when enjoying modern day luxuries.

Investments as assets are becoming more and more common as physical personal property is continually growing in worth. There are many different types of physical asset, but if you’re a dentist the top dog on that list is your dental practice. The months spent searching for your ideal market, the work of moving yourself and possibly your family to a new location, and the rigorous hours put into building a return-based clientele. This, not to mention the social events attended just to let people know you’re a good person and their teeth is in the right hands.

So when it comes time to retire or move to a new location, receiving top dollar for one of your largest assets is of the utmost importance. It isn’t easy to find dentists who are looking to purchase an already running dental office, but there is a market if you know how to look for it.

Dental broker offices that are savvy in finding dentists willing to sell a dental practice are rare, but not impossible to find. However, the question to ask is can I find a buyer who can put the right price on my life’s worth? Easily said, this question is almost impossible to answer and extremely difficult to think of.

Increasing your practices’ value before evaluation

All dental brokers will execute an evaluation of the dental practice and what listing price is ideal. The factors involved in raising the value are varied, but one can guess it will rely on location, clientele and reputation within your practicing area. Before this evaluation occurs, it would be both cost effective and intelligent to make a few minor changes, which in turn could lead to a greatly increased evaluation.

Minor Changes

Cosmetic – The aesthetic state of the carpet, wallpaper, and dental equipment add a certain glow to a dental office. As always, first impressions are key, so even purchasing a new welcome area rug can help hide old carpet or give the sense of waiting in the living room of a home rather than a dental office. Think of it in terms of home staging, the money you spend on making your office look and feel cozy is a direct investment towards a higher listing price.

Equipment – Dental equipment is always advancing and always expensive, so it may make sense to upgrade those items that are put into use on a daily basis. You don’t necessarily need the latest and greatest x-ray machine, but new equipment for cosmetic work such as cleaning teeth, applying fillings, or adhering veneers will gain positive approval by those dentists who appreciate high quality little things that are used often.

Community appeal – Placing a few advertisements or having in place an effective social media campaign is an incredible way to place increased value on your practice. Garnering reviews for your Google Places page, followers on your Twitter account, or Friends on your Facebook page show a worth that is not determined by looks alone.

Selling a dental practice is often neither fun nor easy, but a little hard work can mean the difference between a future filled with possibility, and one with “if I had only…”’s.

Three federal judges weighing the legality of Texas' new political maps reacted with skepticism Tuesday when the state's lawyer suggested the intent of the redrawn boundaries was to maximize the influence of Republicans, not to minimize the influence of minorities.

The U.S. Justice Department and a coalition of minority groups contend the legislative and congressional maps the Texas Legislature drew last year recut districts in a way meant to dilute the state's burgeoning minority voting population. They say the maps violate a section of the Voting Rights Act that requires states with a history of racially discriminatory voting practices to get so-called "pre-clearance" from the Justice Department before making electoral changes.

Texas is gaining four congressional seats this year due to population readjustments made in the 2010 census. That has increased the redistricting stakes, with Hispanics and Democrats often clashing with the GOP-controlled Legislature about how the lines should be drawn.

John Hughes, a lawyer for Texas, which is seeking to keep the maps in place, said during closing arguments before a Washington federal court panel that the maps were the result of partisan gerrymandering that didn't violate federal law. He argued that "a decision based on partisanship" is not based on race, even if it results in minority voters having less political influence.

Before you buy a dental practice you must always remember there are many factors that contribute to the practice’s worth that won’t show up on a balance sheet or list of assets. Know what to look for and you’ll always get the best for what you pay.

Market analysis
You can’t always predict a practice’s earning potential by past years’ revenue or current client lists. Markets can dramatically change under your nose if you’re not sensitive. This can be affected by population growth or decline. Economic conditions that make people put off even much needed dental work. If the age of the population is trending upward you will see a difference in the type of dental work demand. If you specialize in dentures or braces, this makes a big different. Remember when you’re shopping dental practice sales, you’re betting on the long term profitability of a business. If you’re in a college town, you’re more likely to see young families settle nearby. If the economy is especially bad, you might see a general shrinking. If the average income isn’t very high, you may not succeed in selling a lot of porcelain veneers.

Competition analysis
Obviously, if there are a lot of dentists for the population in an area, your piece of the pie gets smaller. On the other hand, in a wide open field, competitors are likely to rush in well after the surplus business is soaked up. Things are also different if you represent a less crowded niche. If you’re the only IAMT certified dentist around or the only one skilled in osseointegrated dental implants, you may find a steady stream of patients no matter how saturated the overall field is. Where many dental practice sales are occurring in a market, this may signal an over concentration of competition thinning out.

Business viability
Competitiveness of any medical business depends on its keeping up with latest technology. When you look to buy a dental practice, it may have newer equipment, but if there are new procedures that are more efficient or give better results to patients, then your equipment might just sit and gather dust. If you are highly specialized yourself, it may be most profitable to join an established practice with a general dentist or one of a related specialty.

The amulet and mask were a 13-year-old boy's virtual possessions in an online fantasy game. In the real world, he was beaten and threatened with a knife to give them up.

The Dutch Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the theft conviction of a youth who stole another boy's possessions in the popular online fantasy game RuneScape. Judges ordered the offender to perform 144 hours of community service.

Only a handful of such cases have been heard in the world, and they have reached varying conclusions about the legal status of "virtual goods" — and whether stealing them is real-world theft.

The suspect's lawyer had argued the amulet and mask "were neither tangible nor material and, unlike for example electricity, had no economic value."

But the Netherlands' highest court said the virtual objects had an intrinsic value to the 13-year-old gamer because of "the time and energy he invested" in winning them while playing the game.

The court did not release the offender's name, only his year of birth — 1992. It said he and another youth beat and kicked the boy and threatened him with a knife until he logged into RuneScape and dropped the objects in 2007.

One of the thieves, who was also playing the game, was then able to pick up the items, making them his virtual property. Both were convicted by a lower court in 2009, but only one of them had appealed to the Supreme Court.

Samsung took a double-hit in its battle against archrival Apple on Tuesday, when the European Union announced it would investigate whether it was illegally trying to hinder competitors and Germany blocked sales of some of its tablet computers.

Samsung Electronics and Apple Inc. are engaged in a strategic war over patents in many countries across the world as they try to draw market share away from each other.

The EU's antitrust watchdog thinks the South Korean company may be overstepping the bounds and launched a formal investigation into whether Samsung is using law suits over key patents on 3G wireless technology to hinder competitors — including Apple.

The European Commission, which is acting as the EU's antitrust enforcer, said it suspected Samsung of not giving other companies fair access to patents it holds on standardized 3G technology for mobile devices — despite committing to do so in 1998.

A spokeswoman for the Commission said the probe also affected tablets such as Apple's newest iPad, which uses standardized wireless 3G technology.

The Commission said that Samsung last year sought legal injunctions against other device makers in several EU states, alleging patent infringement.

Under EU patent rules, a company that hold patents for standardized products are required to license them out indiscriminately at a fair price.

If Samsung is found guilty of unfairly restraining competition, it can be fined up to 10 percent of annual revenue related to the investigation.
